Kanye West Says DONDA Album Released Without His Approval

Universal released “DONDA” without Kanye West approval.

This morning, Kanye West finally released his long delayed album “DONDA” on all streaming platforms. But now it appears that Universal has dropped the album, without Kanye West’s final approval. Ye took to Instagram and posted that, “Universal put my album out without my approval and they blocked Jail 2 from being on te album.” Now another drama added to the whole rollout of the project which has been going on for over a month. However, “Jail 2” with DaBaby which was not originally released on the album, now added to to album on all platforms.

Kanye West’s new album features guest appearances from Jay-Z, DaBaby, Kid Cudi, Lil Baby, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, the late Pop Smoke, Jay Electronica, The Lox, Young Thug, Roddy Ricch, Lil Durk, Pusha T, Playboi Carti, Ty Dolla Sign, Baby Keem, Chris Brown, Fivio Foreign, Don Toliver and more. The production is handled by Kanye West himself on most of the songs, along with Dem Jointz, Mike Dean, DJ Khalil, 30 Roc, Boi-1da, 88 Keys, BoogzDaBeast, Ojivolta, Digital Nas and more.

His reference to “JAIL 2” alludes to the album’s 24th track, “Jail Pt 2,” which was initially inaccessible to stream when the album was first published. The music became accessible at 1 p.m. ET. When a song from an album is barred from streaming on a site like Spotify, it is usually because the song has not been legally approved due to a copyright conflict or other similar issue.

The song — and its counterpart, “Jail” — have sparked debate in recent days, since the former contains both Marilyn Manson, who has been accused of sexual assault by numerous women and DaBaby, who made news earlier this month with homophobic remarks. Both Manson and DaBaby made cameos at West’s third “Donda” listening event on Thursday in Chicago, prompting an outpouring of rage on social media. The criticism continued on Sunday, as label veteran Drew Dixon highlighted.

Subsequently, it was discovered during the listening session on Thursday that Jay-verse Z’s on “Jail” had been changed with a feature from DaBaby (Jay-verse Z’s has since been reinstated), the features on “Donda” have become a focus point on social media.

The album is already on top of all streaming charts, and it is expected to create Billboard 200 history in the coming week. Stream the album below.
