Kanye West Files In Court To Legally Change Name To Ye

Kanye West wants “Ye” to be his official name.

Kanye West is once again in the news, but this time for some reason other than his delayed album “DONDA” or feud with Toronto rap star Drake. According to TMZ, Kanye Omari West has filed a name change request in Los Angeles Superior Court. Kanye West, who goes by the nickname “Ye” for years, wants that to be his official name now.

The change name documents are dated 11 August but sent to the court system on Tuesday, which states “personal reasons” for the decision.

In an interview at the time, Kanye stated that the word “Ye” had a deeper significance. According to the rapper, “‘Ye,’ I believe, is the most often used word in the Bible, and it means ‘you.’ So, I’m you, I’m us, and we’re here. It evolved from Kanye, which means “only one,” to just Ye, which is a reflection of our good, bad, confused, and everything. The record is a representation of who we are as a group.

Back in 2018, Kanye West also released an album by the same title, and at that time he showed the desire to change his name to Ye. “the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE,” he wrote.

Kanye West is scheduled to drop his highly anticipated album “DONDA” this week on 27th, and he’s currently going back and forth with Drake. A few days ago, Kanye leaked Drake’s address on his social media, which had Drizzy laughing out loud.
