Justin Bieber Is Diagnosed With Ramsey Hunt Syndrome Which Caused Facial Paralysis

Justin Bieber cancels shows due to facial paralysis.

Justin Bieber recently cancelled his shows in Toronto and Washington DC, and now the pop star reveals the reason behind it. The 28-year-old took to his social media to share that he has been diagnosed with a rare disorder Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused half of his face paralysed.

“As you can see, this eye is not blinking, I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril will not move,” he states in the video. “It is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.”

“So, there’s full paralysis on this side of my face. So for those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically, obviously, not capable of doing them.”

“This is pretty serious, as you can see. I wish this wasn’t the case, but, obviously, my body’s telling me I’ve got to slow down,” he added. “I hope you guys understand. I’ll be using this time to just rest and relax and get back to a hundred percent so that I can do what I was born to do.”

It is unknown when Bieber was confirmed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. However, the announcement follows the singer’s recent cancellation of planned dates on his 2022 Justice World Tour owing to an “undisclosed illness.”

The actor says he is optimistic for a full recovery and is resting and doing face exercises. Infections normally resolve after a few weeks, although some patients may experience lasting nerve discomfort. Surgery is required in rare circumstances to relieve pressure on the nerve in the face.
