George Floyd's Family Considers Lawsuit After Kanye West Said He Died Because Of Fentanyl

Kanye West causes controversy for comments on George Floyd.

Kanye West continues his wild takes and statements as the rapper made another appearance on DJ EFN & N.O.R.E’s “Drink Champs” show. This time, Ye addressed George Floyd’s death and claimed that he saw “The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM”, and states that actually died from Fentanyl overdose and not by Police.

“They hit (Floyd) with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that,” Ye said about Floyd. “They said he screamed for his mama; mama was his girlfriend. It’s in the documentary.”

After the comments from the rapper, it is being reported that George Floyd’s family is considering a lawsuit against Ye. “While one cannot defame the dead, the family of #GeorgeFloyd is considering suit for Kanye’s false statements about the manner of his death. Claiming Floyd died from fentanyl not the brutality established criminally and civilly undermines & diminishes the Floyd family’s fight,” wrote lawyer Lee Merritt.

Contrary to Kanye’s erroneous assertion, it was established in both criminal and the civil court that Derek Chauvin, kneeled on Floyd’s neck during an arrest, which was a key contributing cause to Floyd’s death. Chauvin was convicted of second-degree deliberate murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in the killing of Floyd in April of last year.
