From The Archive When Donald Trump Nominated Eminem For President

The Presidential Speech by Eminem & Donald Trump Praise back in 2004.

Eminem and Donald Trump were friendly before he led a whole festival in a “f**k Trump” chant and before his 2017 BET Awards cypher went viral. When Trump nominated Eminem at The Shady National Convention, you might recall. As we all know, Eminem isn’t a fan of President Donald Trump, and he dissed him in his tracks, including the controversial BET Hip Hop Awards Freestyle Cypher in 2017. But do you know that Donald Trump nominated Eminem for president, a week before election day in 2004. To promote his fourth album “Encore“, Eminem held a convention for his new party, the Shady Party.

The 2004 MTV special, which broadcast between George W. Bush and John Kerry’s election year, included cabinet members 50 Cent and Dr. Dre, campaign manager Ludacris, and an endorsement from “unofficial NYC mayor” P. Diddy. Slim Shady was introduced to followers by Trump, who was only a businessman and reality personality at the time. He praised Eminem in his opening statement, calling him a “winner” with “brains, guts, and Donald Trump’s vote,” and said he has “brains, guts, and Donald Trump’s vote.

Donald Trump was a guest at the convention where he introduced Eminem with a short speech. “When the Shady Party called and told me there’s going to be a convention, I said it’s got to be a really big one, and it’s got to be right here in New York,” said Trump. “Because this is the best city anywhere in the world. Am I right? Of course, I’m right. I’m always right, I’m Donald Trump, I’m always right. I know a winner when I see one, and Donald Trump is telling you right now, Slim Shady is a winner. He’s got brains, he’s got guts, and he’s got Donald Trump’s vote. Ladies and Gentleman, out great candidate, Slim Shady.

Fast forward 14 years and Eminem alleges in his song “The Ringer” that after his BET cypher attack, Trump sent the Secret Service to check up on him.

Eminem’s caustic, foul-mouthed indictment of Trump on Twitter, in which the artist lambasted the President on everything from his proposed border wall with Mexico to his nuclear weapons war with North Korea.

But I think it’s workin’
These verses are makin’ him a wee bit nervous
And he’s too scurred to answer me with words
‘Cause he knows that he will lyrically get murdered
But I know at least he’s heard it
‘Cause Agent Orange just sent the Secret Service
To meet in person to see if I really think of hurtin’ him
Or ask if I’m linked to terrorists.
