Eminem's Music To Be Murdered By - Side B Album Returns to Billboard 200 Chart

The first week’s sales of “Music To Be Murdered By” Side B is here.

Eminem’s latest Side B deluxe version of “Music To Be Murdered By” helped the project to return to the Billboard 200 charts. Taylor Swift’s new project ‘Evermore‘ continues to dominate the chart as it stays on number 1 on its second week with moving over 155-160k units, a 52% drop.

After its Side B (Deluxe) version was released with 16 new tracks, Eminem’s “Music To Be Murdered By” surged from No. 199 to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart this week. The album sold 94,000 equivalent album units, with 57,000 coming from streaming (82.01 million on-demand streams for the 36 tracks), 33,000 coming from album sales, and 4,000 coming from track equivalent album units.

Eminem’s previous ten albums have all debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, which is a record. The rapper holds the distinction of being the first rapper in music history to have two diamond-certified albums. The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show, both released in 2002, were certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after each selling ten million copies.

Paul McCartney’s “McCartney III” album debuted at number 2 with sales over 90-95k. Eminem’s “Music To Be Murdered By” vaults back onto the chart at #3 with moving around 85-90k units, which is an increase of more than 1000%. It will not be counted as a debut for Eminem’s project as it is in continuation to the original album.

Shady stunned fans by releasing “Music To Be Murdered By” in January, and the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 the following week, selling over 279,000 album-equivalent units.

Eminem now has 10 number-one albums in the US, making him one of just six musicians with that accomplishment. Additionally, the album’s tracks received 217.6 million on-demand streams in total. Music to Be Murdered By had over 1,053,000 equivalent unit sales as of December 2020, including 249,000 in pure sales.

Although Shady attempted to surprise his fans once more with Side B, whispers about the project began to circulate a few days before its release. When producer and Dr. Dre affiliate Dem Jointz accidentally unveiled the cover art in an Instagram post, anticipation for another dose of Shady music reached fever pitch.
