Eminem's Music To Be Murdered By Album is Now Eligible For Platinum

Eminem’s ‘Music To Be Murdered By’ Album sold 1 Million in the US.

Eminem’s latest album ‘Music To Be Murdered By‘ which was released earlier this year, is finally eligible for platinum after moving over 1 Million Album Units in the US. It took ‘MTBMB‘ just around 10 months to be certified platinum, with no campaign and the release of just two videos off the project.

Music To Be Murdered By was released without notice in January, it had an immediate impact, selling 279,000 album-equivalent copies in its first week. Eminem became the first artist to have ten straight albums start at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and one of just six musicians in the United States to have ten No. 1 albums.

MTBMB, Eminem’s second straight surprise Billboard 200 debut following 2018’s Kamikaze, was lightning in a bottle for the second time earlier this year. Music to Be Murdered By has already sold one million copies in the United States, marking yet another huge achievement.

Black Thought, Q-Tip, Juice Wrld, Ed Sheeran, Young M.A, Skylar Grey, Don Toliver, Anderson .Paak, Kxng Crooked, and Joell Ortiz were among the album’s collaborators. Eminem recorded a third verse on the single “Godzilla” that broke the record for the quickest verse on a charted track, rapping 10.65 syllables per second. Eminem broke his own records by rapping 10.3 syllables per second on Nicki Minaj’s 2018 song “Majesty” and 9.6 syllables per second on his 2013 hit “Rap God.”

Last month, Eminem’s project which debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 in January, earned over 1 Billion on-demand streams in the US and it is also closing in on 1.5 Billion Stream on Spotify.

MTBMB, The no. 3 hit “Godzilla” featured in Juice WRLD was presented also in the Billboard Hot 100. The desire for debate has also been shown to be extremely intact. In comparing itself to the Manchester Arena bomber and making light of Ariana Grande’s pain of ‘unaccommodating,’ he shared the critics with himself, and with the lead song ‘Darkness,’ he recalled, from the perspective of the shooter who opened fire on Las Vegas’ Route 91 music festival.

Music to Be Murdered By is now eligible for RIAA platinum certification after passing the million-unit milestone. With the exception of 2017’s critically panned Revival, Eminem’s major-label studio albums have all gone platinum or better, with two of them—2000’s Marshall Mathers LP and 2002’s The Eminem Show—receiving diamond awards for sales exceeding 10 million in the United States.
