Eminem Receives Virgil Abloh's Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Sneakers

Eminem pays homage to Virgil Abloh.

It was recently announced that Louis Vuitton is auctioning off 200 special editions pairs of the Nike “Air Force 1” Virgil Abloh designed Sneakers. They are partnering with Sotheby’s for the special auction will kick off from January 26th, and the bidding for the pairs will begin at $2,000. The proceeds from the auction will benefit Virgil Abloh’s “Post-Modern” Scholarship fund.

Now it looks like the brand is also sending pairs of sneakers to some of the celebrities, as Eminem shared a post of receiving a pair from Nike. The Detroit rapper is a known sneakerhead, and he’s delighted to get the special collab sneakers. “These r just too crazy. Thank you @nike honored to be on #thelist rest easy @virgilabloh,” he wrote. Fat Joe, Jadakiss, DJ Khaled and more also received pair of Virgil Abloh Sneakers in different colours.

The Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 “Friends & Family” collection has 8 colors, each featuring a solid-colored top debossed with monogram print, contrasted with white Swooshes and linings, Off-White-style tagging, and the traditional sole configuration with Virgil’s renowned “AIR” typography. The shoes were given in Louis Vuitton x Nike breakdown boxes and were secured by unique dust bags.

Virgil Abloh, the Louis Vuitton and Off-White designer has passed away at the age of 41 this past November. The art director had been battling a rare Cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma for some years. “We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, a fiercely devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend,” the caption read.

“He is survived by his loving wife Shannon Abloh, his children Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his parents Nee and Eunice Abloh, and numerous dear friends and colleagues. For over two years, Virgil valiantly battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma. He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture. “Through it all, his work ethic, infinite curiosity, and optimism never wavered. Virgil was driven by his dedication to his craft and to his mission to open doors for others and create pathways for greater equality in art and design. He often said, ‘Everything I do is for the 17-year-old version of myself,’ believing deeply in the power of art to inspire future generations. We thank you all for your love and support, and we ask for privacy as we grieve and celebrate Virgil’s life.”

Big Sean Rocks Eminem’s Gift “Carhartt Air Jordan 4s” Sneakers.

Kendrick Lamar recently performed at the Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection show during Paris Fashion Week, paying respect to the late designer Virgil Abloh.

The artist donned a special Louis Vuitton outfit, consisting of a black wool double-breasted suit with gold buttons and a silk shirt from Abloh’s last collection for the French opulent clothing brand, which was unveiled this past January. He completed his look with black leather gloves and boots from Louis Vuitton.
