Eminem Took The Knee At Super Bowl Even After NFL Asked Not To

Eminem took the knee Colin Kaepernick style in support of Black Live Matter

Eminem is the man of his words and no one can stop if he had made up his mind for something. If Sim Shady believes in something he would do it whether it’s allowed or not.

At Pepsi Superbowl halftime show performance along with Dr. Dre Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige, Eminem took the knee in Colin Kaepernick style in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement. Eminem took the knee even after NFL asked him not do so.

Eminem’s decision to take a knee is unique in that he is not affiliated with the NFL in any way. While taking a knee was a Slim Shady moment for the lone White artist, considering the significance of kneeling in the setting of the football field, it’s not surprising that the NFL didn’t want him to do it.

Kaepernick has been vocally criticising police violence towards black Americans on social media first before the 2016 American football season started. The quarterbacks then actually refused to stand when the US national anthem was performed, which reporters began noticing during the preseason games. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of colour,” Kaepernick told NFL media after a game in August. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

However, the halftime performance is about the NFL, and it’s evident that people in power warned the rapper that if he took a knee, there would be consequences. The NFL made every effort to eliminate kneeling as a form of social protest from its games. Because Kaepernick was the first to do so, he was unable to get another employment in the NFL.

It was also noticed that Eminem’s remained on the Knee in respect to Tupac, as Dr. Dre plays “I ain’t mad at cha” on the piano.

The league has also allegedly disallowed one of Snoop Dogg’s costumes owing to gang affiliations, and it has highlighted Dr. Dre’s song from “Still D.R.E.” because it includes lines such as “still not liking cops.” According to reports, the NFL does not want the Super Bowl to be seen as a “divisive cultural war event.”
