Eminem & Juice WRLD's Godzilla is Eligible For 3x Platinum in the US

Eminem’s “Godzilla” hits another milestone.

Eminem continues to achieve more plaques as his this year’s hit “Godzilla” with the late rapper Juice WRLD is eligible for 3x platinum after moving over 3 million units in the US. The song appeared on Eminem 11th Studio Album “Music To Be Murdered By” earlier this year.

The popular track also becomes Eminem’s 10th most streamed song on Spotify with 491 million streams, and it’s about to surpass ‘Not Afraid‘ which is on number 9 with 498 million streams.

Juice WRLD has continued to make appearances across the rap industry following his untimely death in 2019. Aside from posthumous verses on projects by Young Thug, Migos, Trippie Redd, Maroon 5, and others, fans were also ecstatic when Juice appeared for an unexpected moment on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy tune “IMY2,” which featured Kid Cudi. Juice made an appearance without singing or rapping, instead providing insightful words of thought.

The song “Godzilla” also marks Juice WRLD’s first postmortem release after the rapper passed away on December 8, 2019, six days after turning 21. Juice apparently started recording the song’s chorus before his tragic passing, but he was unable to finish the song’s real verse in time. Later in 2020, a photo of Juice WRLD and his pals after he had recorded the chorus appeared.

Eminem’s third verse on the song is the quickest rap verse he’s ever done, clocking in at 10.65 syllables per second, or 300 words in 30 seconds. Eminem broke his own records by rapping 10.3 syllables per second in his appearance on Nicki Minaj and Labrinth’s 2018 single “Majesty” and 9.6 syllables per second in his 2013 song “Rap God.”

Em makes history with “Godzilla” becoming the first artist to reach 1 billion streams with music from three separate decades. The nearest entry, “The Slim Shady LP,” has 417 million streams, so he still has a ways to go before reaching four decades if any tracks from that album do well.

A lyric video for the track was released on March 4, 2020. Eminem and Lyrical Lemonade collaborated to share a teaser of the music video on March 6. Mike Tyson, Dr. Dre, and a homage to Juice WRLD feature in the music video, which was directed by Cole Bennett and premiered on March 9.
