50 Cent’s surprise appearance at Super Bowl was Eminem’s idea.
This Super Bowl was special for the hip hop fans as rap icons Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar at the halftime show. 50 Cent also made a surprise appearance and it was the icing on the cake for the star-studded crowd. While every other artist performed a couple of their song, Eminem and 50 Cent gave a performance of their classics “Lose Yourself” and “In Da Club.”
For those watching, 50’s revelation was merely the icing on the cake of an already impressive halftime performance lineup. Another key takeaway from the concert was when Eminem took a knee midway through the set as Dre sat at a table near a piano.
Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre opened the concert by performing from atop a group of white structures. Following their performance of ‘California Love,’ the camera shifted to the lower floor of one of the buildings, where 50 Cent was hanging upside down, referencing the video for his smash single ‘In Da Club,’ which he subsequently performed.
The Detroit rapper had the shortest performance time at the show, and reportedly the rapper gave half of his time to his good friend 50 Cent. According to Page Six, Slim Shady “made the request” for 50 Cent to join the halftime show, and the POWER mogul was “happy to do it.” “They’re friends and he would do anything for him,” an insider said of 50 Cent and Eminem.
Eminem allegedly warned JAY-Z that he would not perform at the famous event without his longtime buddy, thus 50 Cent made a surprise cameo at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show. Co-host N.O.R.E. claimed that he was provided this news when he spoke with JAY-Z about the show during Snoop Dogg’s recent Drink Champs interview “I said to JAY-Z, ‘I have to ask this straight-up: who is gonna perform at the NFL?’” he said. “He said to me — and I’m sorry for everybody who don’t understand — he said, ‘The white guy called for 50 Cent.’”

Eminem was the “white guy” Hov was supposedly alluding to when he reportedly remarked, “I can’t do it if I can’t bring 50 with me.” N.O.R.E. went on to call Em and Fif’s relationship “spiritual,” to which Snoop Dogg agreed, “Of course, that’s his guy. And guess who’s Dre’s guy? It’s me.”
According to the source, the rapper went to Sei Less in NYC “straight from the airport” for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner with fiancée Jamira Haines, when numerous individuals, including A Boogie wit Da Hoodie, came to 50 to congratulate him on his performance.

The full setlist includes Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode” & “Still D.R.E.”, Dr. Dre & 2Pac’s “California Love”, Mary J. Blige’s “Family Affair” & “No More Drama”, Kendrick Lamar’s “M.a.a.D City” & “Alright”.
50 Cent has always had a good sense of humour, so it was simple to foresee the jokes when he appeared upside down during the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday night.
Fif rushed to Instagram after his electrifying performance of “In Da Club”—which came in between performances by Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige—to post a few memes about his surprise visit.
During a recent visit to Big Boy’s Neighborhood, 50 Cent talked about the historic performance and detailed behind-the-scenes tension between him and Jay-Z. “I got the call before the [Pepsi] ad went up,” he said. “I wasn’t in the ad because of—Jay-Z and them was putting it together. So, I think they still harbor some energy towards me.”
The rapper was then asked if his exclusion from the ad was intentional. “No. I think that they—they were saying that the NFL had some issues with me. I don’t know what those issues are,” responds 50. “What is the issue? You see what I’m sayin’?”

For the audience, 50’s surprise was the icing on top of an already amazing halftime show lineup. Another memorable moment from the show occurred when Eminem took a knee midway through the concert as Dre sat beside a piano.
At the time, a Sunday story said Em would not be taking a knee—which many regarded as a tribute to Colin Kaepernick—because the NFL had told him he couldn’t, but a league spokesman contradicted the news, stating Marshall’s kneel was part of practise.
