Cardi B Defends Taking Help From Songwriters For Her Music

Cardi B responds to using songwriters for her songs.

Cardi B hits back at a fan who criticized her for using songwriters for her songs. The Neighborhood Talk shared a clip from the 2023 MTV VMAs, where Cardi talked about her hometown being the birth of hip-hop, for which she received flak from some of the users.

“I started music before LHH [Love and Hip Hop] and wrote about MY struggles and life as a dancer,” Cardi B hits back. “Go listen to them mixtapes also I went to school for musical theatre and technology.” “Just because somebody might help me with a hook means nothing. Look at all ya fav artists credits they all do receive some type of help.”

Just recently, Cardi B also snapped back at Joe Budden who trashed her new single “Bongos” with Megan Thee Stallion. “I just feel like he has an issue with me,” she said. “And it was beyond the critique of ‘Bongos’ — it’s just you inviting bitches who said the rudest, nastiest sh-t, when Mal and Rory say f–k sh-t about you, you get so defensive and you want to clear it up.

“You came at Taxstone because Taxstone said something about you. You expect people to understand you and you expect people to take your side.”

On recent episode of his podcast, Joe Budden said: “The hook is not hookin’ for me. There’s nothin’ in it to make it stay, one. And two… this commercialized ratchet has passed, it’s ghetto ratchet time,” he said. “And neither one of them are ghetto ratchet on this song. We need a “Bodak Yellow” now. This sounds like two women who can’t make a song.”
