Big Sean recalls an incident during the “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” studio session.
Big Sean is the latest guest on the popular N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s “Drink Champs” show on REVOLT. The highly anticipated interview is out now and Sean Don unveiled many crazy stories and also responded to Kanye West who recently said that signing Big Sean was the worst thing he’s ever done.
Big Sean also revealed an incident that took place during the studio session of Kanye West’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” album. Big Sean featured on the bonus song “See Me Now” along with Charlie Wilson and Beyonce. Sean reveals how Hov and Ye made him fire his friend after he leaked a picture on Twitter.
“We down there working on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in Hawaii,” Big Sean said. “I’m out there playing my role, but I brought my mans with me in case I needed anything, he was going to help hold me down. It’s good to have a support system, to have one of your homie’s there when you trying to contribute.”
He continued, “So anyway, I’m in a studio… it was me, Ye and Hov. Even then, I wasn’t trying to be thirsty or sneak a f**king picture. I’m here just taking it in mentally. He ends up taking a picture of all of us in the studio. Didn’t tell me. He ends up tweeting it and it gets picked up on AllHipHop and things like that.”
“I don’t know who saw it, but it got to either Ye or Hov’s attention and they thought it was me,” Big Sean recalls. “It didn’t make any sense because I wasn’t even really on at that time and it was like, ‘Kanye, JAY-Z, Beyoncé, Big Sean.’ People were like, ‘Who the f**k is Big Sean?’ It looked like I planted this sh*t.”
“When we talked about, I told them, ‘I don’t even know what the f**k you’re talking about,’” he continued. “I explained to [Kanye] who it was and he was like, ‘You gotta f**king fire him. We’ve all done this, we’ve hired the people that we love. But people were mad at you thinking that you were being thirsty. And it was your mans. So I told [my friend], ‘I’m in a position where it’s Ye and Hov saying you gotta go. I’m sorry bro, we gotta figure out something else.’”
“But it ended up being a blessing in disguise,” he reveals. “He ended up transforming his life and being probably way more successful than he would’ve been in the position he was in. He ended up being a teacher and ended up impacting a lot of people’s lives and doing amazing, wonderful things.”
Sean talks about his experience in high school and said he was in a fairly bad automobile accident previous to signing with G.O.O.D. Music when discussing what went into Detroit 2. “My grandma had a stroke and I ended up driving her car, so she had just bought a brand new Chrysler Sebring,” he explained. “That was the first car I had. I got into a crazy f**king car accident. I was skipping school, ironically with the high GPA…I was with my girl at the time, skipping school, in the snow, [we] got into a crazy car accident. Got caught up in my lie. ’Cause I’m telling my mom I’m somewhere else, I’m on the whole other side of town. I get into a f**king crazy accident, the whole car was totaled.”
Big Sean stated in the lead-up to his fifth studio album, Detroit 2, which was released last year, that he stopped taking Adderall recreational drug because he became addicted to it. “I grew a lot as a person, I went through real n***a s**t. … I went through real people sh*t,” he said. “I don’t be heavy into drugs or s**t…I was f**king with Adderall. And I was starting to feel like I couldn’t function without this s**t. So I gave it up.”
