Battle Rapper Pat Stay Stabbed To Death At 36; A Day After Dropping The Game Diss Track

Pat Stay was murdered at the age of 36 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Pat Stay, an acclaimed battle rapper was stabbed to death in downtown Halifax on Sunday, reports CBC News. The victim was not identified by the Halifax Regional Police, but the rapper’s brother Pete Stay confirmed the tragic news.

The police were called to the 1600 block of Lower Water Street at around 12:36 a.m. AT, and then the victim was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

Just the other day, the rapper released a diss track titled “Warm Up” towards The Game, after calling him out about a month ago.

The beef emerged after the Compton emcee dissed Eminem with the song “The Black Slim Shady” off his latest “Drillmatic” album. Pat Stay called out the Game for baiting Eminem for a battle, then invited him for a rap battle against him.

Drake was heard saying in the recently released song, “Pat Stay’s definitely one of, if not the great,” A sample of Dido’s song “Thank You,” which was also used in Eminem’s song “Stan” from 2000, can be heard in the trash song’s YouTube video, which has over 109K views and can be seen above. It also praised Method Man and Joe Budden and issued a challenge to The Game to engage in a rap battle.

At the Pat Stay’s Benefit, Eminem and Royce da 5’9″ send condolences through video clips. “Yo, I just want to send my condolences out to the Pat Stay family and friends, “ said Eminem. “Bro, I know we never got a chance to meet, but I’ve been a huge fan of yours for years. The level that you rap to, it’s like the Pinnacle of battle rap and It doesn’t get any higher than the level that you rapped at. Just gonna say man we’re gonna miss you bro, Hip-Hop is gonna miss you, we lost a legend.”

“I just like to take the opportunity to send my deepest condolences to Pat Stay’s family. I don’t even know if I can put into words how great of a man that I felt that he was,” said Royce. “Aside from being an amazing rapper. I had the honor and the privilege to be able to build somewhat of a personal relationship with the man. That’s pretty rare to be able to do in this business.”
