Angela Yee Says The Breakfast Club As You Know It Is Officially Over

Angela Yee hints at the end of The Breakfast Club.

The Breakfast Club, the popular Power 105.1 show might be coming to an end. Angela Yee, the co-host of the show with Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy, shared a cryptic tweet, hinting at the end. “The breakfast club as you know it is officially over,” she wrote, along with heart-shaped hands emoji. The post was tweeted just after her earlier tweet which reads “GOD is good!”

She will continue to be a member of the bigger iHeartRadio family. She also disclosed the upcoming premiere of her own broadcast, a daily program that would be widely streamed. “This is really exciting,” she told Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy on Wednesday. “This is something that I’ve been waiting to do for years now, way before the pandemic. I had actually sat down with our big boss … and I was telling her, like, ‘Look, I really wanna have my own show.’ You know, I have my podcast Lip Service and I was thinking I would be able to get something like a weekend situation.”

It’s still unclear if Yee meant her departure from the show or the termination of the trio and the entire show. The other two hosts, Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy are yet to make statements on the issue.

The Breakfast Club kicked off in 2010 and became one of the top shows for interviews and album promos. Over the years, the show gave us countless viral moments, including Soulja Boy’s “Drake????” meme.

A couple of years back, the show was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame. “What an accomplishment! … And for everyone who listens to us in the morning and is part of our family, thank you so much for this honor!” Angela Yee wrote at the time. “one day people will look back and give us respect for how we impacted the culture the past decade,” said Charlamagne.

The latest episode of The Breakfast Club featured Royce Da 5’9″ & Courtney Bell as guests.
