The BET Awards is back with the annual event as the 2021 Awards show took place at Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles earlier tonight. The 21st annual show with the theme “Year of the Black Woman” was hosted by award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson. “Celebrating Black women isn’t a fad or a trend it’s a forever mood,” Taraji P. Henson says at the start. “There is more than enough room for all of us to thrive, because can’t nobody be like me and can’t nobody be you like you.

The legendary Rapper & Actress Queen Latifah was honored at the BET Awards as the 51-year-old was given the Lifetime Achievement award. “I want to thank BET for creating an outlet for beautiful Blackness to thrive, to shine,” said Queen Latifah who brought her father to the stage. “When we couldn’t get played on the radio in other places, we couldn’t get our videos played in other places, there was BET that allowed us to be in our fullness.

Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby were nominated in Seven categories, followed by Cardi B and Toronto rap star Drake with Five nominations. Megan Thee Stallion took home four awards, including “Best Collaboration“, “Best Female Hip-Hop Artist” and “Video of the Year“. Lil Baby won the trophy for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist at the event. At the show, Cardi B also announced that she is pregnant with her second child.
