2021 American Music Awards Winners & Performances

The Highlights of 2021 American Music Awards.

This year’s American Music Awards took place last night at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The annual award show was hosted by Cardi B and featured several top tier artists. The 2021 event was dominated by BTS, Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion, as they took home three awards each. While Doja Cat won Collaboration of the Year, Favorite Female R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Album, Megan grabs Favorite Trending Song, Favorite Female Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Hip-Hop Album.

Bad Bunny, Carrie Underwood, Gabby Barrett and Taylor Swift was honoured with 2 awards each. Drake and Kanye West, the duo who recently squashed their beef, won trophies for Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Gospel Artist respectively. Lil Nas X takes home the Favorite Music Video award for his song “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”. The Weeknd was named Favorite Male R&B Artist.

BTS was named artist of the year, as well as best pop pair or group and favourite pop song for “Butter.” Megan Thee Stallion also won three awards: best trending song for “Body,” best female hip-hop artist, and best hip-hop album for “Good News.” Doja Cat had the same number of nominations, taking home collaboration of the year for “Kiss Me More” with SZA, as well as favourite female R&B singer and R&B album for “Planet Her.” Meanwhile, Rodrigo was named new artist of the year.

The 2021 AMAs also had performances from Silk Sonic (Anderson .Paak & Bruno Mars), Olivia Rodrigo, Bad Bunny, Chloe, Diplo, Jennifer Lopez, BTS and more. Tyler, The Creator was also among the performers, as he performed his song called “Massa”, off his latest album “Call Me If You Get Lost”.
