The Time When DMX Refused To Take Shots At Eminem

When DMX refused to go at Eminem.

The legendary DMX, real name Earl Simmons passed away yesterday at the age of 50 after being on life support for a week in the ICU. “We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time,” announced his family in a statement. When DMX was hospitalized last week, Eminem sends his prayers for the fellow GOAT MC as he wrote, “Prayers out 2 @DMX & his family!! True legend!! Pullin 4 u please stay strong.

Ever since then, fans have been sharing the old clips of the duo, one from 1999 when the Detroit Rapper present Earl as the best live performer of the year award.

Eminem presents DMX with an award in a flashback video from 1999, which was shared by a number of followers. Users posted a clip from DMX’s interview in which the host appears to try to position the rapper against Eminem in one of the videos. Rather than attacking Eminem, DMX is heard claiming that he “is a terrific artist” with whom he has a nice connection.

And in another clip, an old interview of DMX was shared when the reporter tried to make him go at Eminem, but he refused to say anything bad about him. “Eminem released a track called ‘Rap God’, is he the Rap God Now?” asks the reporter. “I don’t know what Eminem is, I know he is a talented artist. We have a good relationship. Don’t ask me random sh*t to start a beef, please don’t do that.” The video shows that how much respect DMX has for his fellow Hip-Hop Greats.

In Murder Inc., DMX collaborated with Jay-Z and Ja Rule; nevertheless, the two had a dispute, which contributed to the group’s failure in working together. According to rumours, the animosity began in the early 1990s following a rap war between the two that resulted in DMX’s hate for Jay-Z. Prior to DMX’s death, the animosity, though it had faded over the years, resurfaced when DMX stated in an Instagram video that he wanted to rap battle Jay-Z on Verzuz.

As the tributes pour in, fans have re-shared footage from a 2013 interview in which Eminem is questioned if he is a ‘Rap God,’ after releasing a song with the same title that year.

DMX began rapping in the early 1990s and released his debut album It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot in 1998 to critical acclaim and economic success, selling 251,000 copies in its first week of release. DMX launched his most successful album to date, “…And Then There Was X” (1999), which had a smash with “Party Up (Up in Here)” as the lead song.

On April 24, 2021, Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir held a “Celebration of Life” at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. They sang many songs in tribute to DMX. The tribute was held in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, which had a capacity of 1,900 people. It was aired live on DMX’s YouTube and Instagram pages. A black monster truck with the words “Long live DMX” emblazoned on the side carried DMX’s casket on its route to Barclays.
