Rick Ross Speaks On A Potential VERZUZ Battle Against Jay-Z

Rick Ross would love to go against Jay-Z in a VERZUZ.

Rick Ross just dropped his eleventh studio album “Richer Than I Ever Been“, which features guest appearances from Wale, Future, Benny The Butcher, 21 Savage, Wiz Khalifa and more. The MMG Boss is on the promo run for the new project, and he made a visit to The Real Talk Show for a conversation with Garcelle Beauvais, Adrienne Houghton, Loni Love & Jeannie Mai Jenkins.

Among other things, Rozay was also asked about the hot topic in Hip-Hop currently, the VERZUZ battles. One of the hosts asked him which VERZUZ is his favourite or something he would love to see. “My favorite VERZUZ, Jay-Z and… To me, that’s what makes the VERZUZ special cause it brings out the best in both parties.” “So you and Jay-Z?” asks one of the hosts. “Oh, that’s a possibility. But I gotta give my flowers to the big homie. My homie gave me my first opportunity, signing me to Def Jam Records. He’s one of one. Rest in Peace to Biggie, Tupac… That would’ve been the verzuz of verzuz. Without a doubt.”

Previously, some big names showed the desire to do a VERZUZ battle against the legendary Jay-Z. Busta Rhymes said that he would love to do the Verzuz battle against Eminem, Jay-Z & Lil Wayne. “I wouldn’t do one with anyone whose catalog isn’t crazy,” he said. I would love to do a Verzuz with somebody I’m a fan of, I would love to do a Verzuz battle with Eminem, I would love to do a Verzuz with Lil Wayne. I would love to do a Verzuz with Hov. I wouldn’t mind doing a Verzuz against two artists at the same time.”

For the past 15 years, Ross has argued that artifice is more genuine than reality. He’s like a rap-game facsimile of Don DeLillo’s Most Photographed Barn in America from White Noise. As a postmodernist (this is the same guy who wore a chain of himself wearing a chain of himself), he’s made himself into the most absurd and bombastic symbol of a drug lord, something none of us will ever see in real life but encounter constantly in pop culture; he’s like a rap-game facsi And with his bombastic songs and over-the-top appearance, he capitalises on that irreverence.
