JAY-Z Reveals He Never Charges For Collaborations It's Mostly Relationships

JAY-Z only appears on collaborations when he was asked to.

JAY-Z is one of the biggest names in hip-hop, and it is rumoured that it takes a huge amount of money to get on a song with the rapper. But now HOV himself revealed that he never charges for any track, it is only based on relationships and talent.

The legendary rapper appeared on Kevin Hart’s “Hart To Heart” show, where he talked on many topics, including a verse fee. “It’s mostly relationships. It’s actually always been mostly relationships,” Jay-Z said at around the 19:55 minute mark. “Sometimes it’s talent and sometimes someone asks me to be on something. Pretty much every song that I’m on I’m asked to be on. I don’t ask people to be on their songs. I never charge.”

“Way more No’s than Yes’s,” he said about working with others. “I try to be straight up. Sometimes it slip through the cracks. Sometimes I want to do it and my life is in a certain place and I’m movin’ and I can’t do it. But I typically try to be straight up with people. I don’t like to drag or waste people’s time or hold them. Like I’m not in space right now to create or If I don’t like the song.”

In 2022, Hov only had an appearance on one song, Pusha T and Pharrell’s “Neck & Wrist,” which was included on King Push’s It’s Almost Dry album.

JAY-Z reflects on a variety of subjects during the roughly 50-minute chat, including parenthood, retirement, and more. Jay-Z stated that he has not stopped making rap music and has not ruled out the possibility of releasing new music in the future in the same interview with hart.

His most recent album, “4:44,” was out in 2017. He and his wife Beyoncé produced a joint album named “Everything Is Love” a year later. I don’t know what happens next. I’m not actively making music or making an album or have plans to make an album,” he said of future plans.
