New Interview A Conversation With Nicki Minaj & Joe Budden

Nicki Minaj sat down with Joe Budden for a new interview.

Following an announcement last month, Nicki Minaj and Joe Budden sat down for a new insightful interview. The interview is released just a day after their Instagram live session. On the show, the two good friends discussed their earliest moments and Nicki Minaj’s return to the music scene with two collaborations with Lil Baby.

The two also talks about Minaj’s journey from rapping with the best of them to creating her own fashion line, her writing style, working on her new projects, their opinion on the current state of hip-hop industry, embracing motherhood and more. “In my opinion, rap is the only culture that from the beginning of time has been vilified,” she said. “From the very beginning, we have been treated like the bad guy. We’re held to a different level of judgment.”

“I would never see any female rapper wearing pink hair,” she said. “Pink hair became a part of that starter kit. Every female rapper will put on a pink wig at some point. And I remember that was just the Nicki Minaj thing. That’s why when I said ‘pink wig, thi*k a*s’—that’s an iconic Nicki Minaj line because that’s what she wears.”

In a teaser clip of the interview, Nicki said that she and Lil Kim should have had American Vogue Covers already. “The same way I feel I should have already been on the cover of American Vogue, so should Lil’ Kim,” she said.
