Big Daddy Kane details the upcoming Netflix Documentary in the new interview.
Big Daddy Kane is prepping the release of his long-awaited Netflix Documentary “Paragraphs I Manifest”, and now the rap legend shares some light on the documentary in a new interview with Hip-Hop DX on the red carpet of BET Awards 2023.
The documentary will feature a lot of interviews with some of the rap greats, and Kane was asked if anything surprised him while doing those interviews. “Yeah. The interview with Eminem was very very intense. He mentioned some things that I guess I never really paid attention to or even thought about,” he revealed. “Like, I had to really sit and say ‘you sure that I’m the first person who did that? Hold on, let me double check.’ He mentioned some things that I never really thought about it or I even paid attention to. You will see these things in the documentary.”
The rapper then asked if he remember where he was when he heard Eminem for the first time. “Honestly, the first time I heard Eminem was Slim Shady,” he continued. “And then Somebody else played something that he was on before and let me hear. I was like ‘yo, he is nice… he’s nice and he’s funny.’ And then when I heard him get real super lyrical, I was like ‘oh, nah, this dude is a problem. he’s dope.’”
“Nah, I mean, actually, we reached out and we got word back probably a week or two,” he added about reaching out to Eminem for the interview.
Big Daddy Kane Says Eminem Studies Hip-Hop Like A Scientist
He also talked about another great interview with J. Cole. “I learned that J. Cole is a student that studies,” he said. “He explained how he found out about me and what made him go back and look just you know see who I was and what I sound like, things of that nature. And then just to hear him talk about his writing process and what he’s into I thought was real dope. Because I think he’s an amazing lyricist.”
Previously, Kane called J. Cole his favourite rapper from this era when they met for the interview. “Amazing interview today with @realcoleworld. My favorite MC of this era. My son loves this Brother as well. We almost done! One more to go!,” he wrote.
