Watch Rod Wave Releases A New Song & Video Tombstone

Rod Wave drops a new song ‘Tombstone’.

After giving us the ‘Street Runner‘ song & video earlier this month, Rod Wave continues releasing new material as he drops another new track called “Tombstone“. This will appear on the Florida rapper’s new album ‘SoulFly‘ which is releasing tomorrow.

With striking graphics that condense issues like family dynamics and police violence into less than three minutes, the artist reflects on life and death. The heart-wrenching clip, which follows the story of a youngster with difficult family life while also dealing with systemic issues, somehow concludes with a sense of serenity.

The track was accompanied by a music video directed by Reel Goats. It opens with Rod Wave singing and rapping alone on a snowy mountain, then cuts to footage of a youngster that looks like a younger version of himself and has a “tumultuous home life” while “still fighting systemic challenges.”

When the boy is shot and murdered by the cops, it is discovered that he was deaf since he used sign language to express his love for his mother. The film concludes with the child’s father, dressed in a white tunic, lying him down to rest beside a river, surrounded by CGI vines.

“Tombstone” is Wave’s next song, after “Street Runner,” which had 15.5 million streams in its first week. In addition to the song’s release, Wave also introduced a video game to accompany it. The band described the song as a “It’s a personal song about the sacrifices I made to pursue this career that I have now all while never forgetting about the family and loved ones I’m doing it for. Beyond the music, this video game brings my story to life.
