T-Pain Drops His New Covers Album On Top Of The Covers

T-Pain shares his new project “On Top Of The Covers”.

T-Pain is back to the music scene as he unleashes his new project “On Top Of The Covers”, which was announced earlier this week. As the title suggests, the album contains covers of classic tracks from all eras. This is the seventh studio effort, and a follow-up to 2019’s “1UP“.

This is a 8 song project, featuring covers of Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come,” Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me,” Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life” (alongside NandoSTL), Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show’s “Sharing The Night Together”, Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey” and Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs.”

“This covers album has been years in the making,” he said. “It got put on hold for a bit, but now that I’m independent, I’m able to do whatever I want to do through Nappy Boy Entertainment and this is something I’ve felt strongly about for a long time. These songs are not what you’d expect when you hear that T-Pain is doing a covers album and that is what I think is cool about it.”

In his rendition of Frank Sinatra’s timeless hit, “That’s Life,” the rapper will incorporate a guest appearance by NandoSTL. “You’ve been asking for it & here ya go bro. A T-Pain cover album to end all cover albums…..from T-Pain. On Top Of The Covers dropping 3/17 alongside an intimate set of shows. More on that later tho … so stay tuned for more updates,” he wrote in a tweet.
