SZA Releases Ctrl Deluxe Edition To Celebrate Album's 5th Anniversary

SZA celebrates “Ctrl” 5th anniversary with Deluxe Edition.

Earlier this week, SZA tweeted about thinking of releasing some unreleased songs on the 5th anniversary of her debut studio album “Ctrl“, and today she finally dropped some unheard tracks. The album was originally released on June 9, 2017, and it’s the only project in SZA’s catalogue.

The new version comes along with additional 7 tracks. The album previously featured guest appearances from Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, James Fauntleroy, and Isaiah Rashad. The unreleased songs include the likes of “2AM,” “Tread Carefully,” “Awkward,” “Miles,” “Percolator,” and “Jodie.”

“Everything made in 2014-2016 /17… not new lol to be absolutely clear,” she wrote. “What isn’t on deluxe maybe on SoundCloud as well tomorrow? Deciding . Spring cleaning old thoughts.” This is JUST a gift for camp ctrl . Nothing more nothing less . if u family you get it . 5 yrs is a long time . Thank you for changing my life I love you . Happy anniversary,” she said on another tweet.

The tracklist has been expanded by seven tracks, including an alternative version of the Grammy-nominated smash “Love Galore.” “2AM,” “Miles,” “Percolator,” “Tread Carefully,” “Awkward,” and “Jodie” were also included after the 14 tracks on the initial CD.

SZA’s new tracks are her first since a surprise release in August of last year, when the singer took to Soundcloud anonymously to unleash demos of ‘Joni,’ ‘Nightbird,’ and ‘I Hate U,’ the latter of which shattered Apple Music streaming records when it was ultimately released as an official single in December.
