Stormzy unleashes “This Is What I Mean” album.

After announcing it last month, Stormzy has finally released his brand new third studio album “This Is What I Mean” through Hashtag Merky Music and 0207 Def Jam. The album was recorded on Osea Island in England during a series of music camps with a team of “world class musicians and the best producers, writers and artists in the world” in a “free atmosphere”. The project was described as an “intimate love letter to music” by the UK Rapper.

The album comes with 12 new songs, which include the previously released records “Firebabe” and “Hide & Seek”. The album features no guest appearances.

The album follows up his 2019’s effort “Heavy Is The Dead”, which featured H.E.R, Ed Sheeran, Burna Boy and more.

Stormzy obtained a platinum award for the record, which rocketed to the top of the UK Albums Chart. Since then, the Croydon rapper has been on tracks as diverse as Tion Wayne’s “I Dunno,” Loski’s “Flavour,” Ghetts’ “Skengman,” Dave’s “Clash,” and Knucks’ “Die Hard.” Back in September, he released the explosive “Mel Made Me Do It,” a seven-minute reminder for anybody who had forgotten Stormzy’s emcee talents.

Taking to Instagram, he disclosed that a specific Odd Future veteran inspired him to broaden his sound: “When Tyler, the Creator released the masterpiece that is IGOR, he shared a message with it, and I wanted to do the same, but I was hesitant. Mainly because I would love for my music to do all the talking, but I thought I’d share this message anyway.”

He continued: “I’m never ever purposely trying to defy genres or go against the grain… People [have] been tryna box me in for years, but I hope this chapter at least makes my biggest critic say, ‘Yes, he’s sh*t, but he loves music, and I guess he’s gonna do whatever he likes.’”

“I pray you listen to this album in your own time, whenever you can. Listen to it properly with no distractions,” he said on Instagram. “I pray you listen to this album with an open heart and if you hate it after I promise to God I’m perfectly fine with that, I’m just grateful that you listened with openness. I pray that it moves you and captures your imagination and I pray that someone, somewhere feels it. This is what I mean and it’s what I’ve always meant. God bless.”
