Kid Cudi Releases “Man on the Moon III: The Chosen” Album feat. Pop Smoke, Skepta & more.

Kid Cudi makes his returns to the music scene with his Trilogy Project “Man on the Moon III: The Chosen“. The 3rd and final album of the series. The Project includes 18 tracks and it will have 4 sets, features coming from Pop Smoke, Skepta, Phoebe Bridgers, and Trippie Redd.

While Cudi has a diverse group of collaborators on “Man on the Moon III”, one of his longtime partners, Kanye West, is conspicuously absent from the album, producing none of the songs. Cudi also released a music video for his song “She Knows This,” in which he gets lit in a luxurious apartment by himself while an insanely crimson moon hangs in the window behind him. Cudi, who is due to star in the film version of Brandon Taylor’s breakthrough novel Real Life, shows off his amazing acting chops in the middle of the song video, going full Will Smith in “I Am Legend” at one point.

Kid Cudi’s debut album, “Man on the Moon: The End of Day”, a five-part dream sequence that presented his battle with mental illness in heroic terms, was released 11 years ago. Cudi was immersed in a combination of blunts, beer, and mushrooms, playing the everyman night owl. His failure to analyse his anxiety (“I’ve got some troubles that nobody can see/ And all of these feelings are spilling out of me”), ironically, shaped the album’s gripping portrayal of sadness as an overwhelming and inscrutable force of nature. Cudi is now regarded as a mental health icon, with an extensive online hagiography devoted to his healing abilities and the pivotal role he played in mainstream rap’s improved acceptance of depression.
