Kendrick Lamar’s new album might be coming on this NFL Super Bowl.
There’s a lot of excitement developing around major artist album releases this year, as we anticipate more artists to finally release new music this year. Kendrick Lamar, who has been underground for a long time, is one of the front runners for this anticipation. We’re approaching the four-year anniversary of Kendrick Lamar’s Pulitzer Prize-winning record, DAMN. In the four years since, the Compton rapper has spat a verse here and there—for example, on Anderson.”Tints” Paak’s or, more recently, on Busta Rhymes’ “Look Over Your Shoulder”—as well as producing 2018’s Black Panther Soundtrack. But for admirers of his music, for listeners who know Kendrick Lamar is one of the finest living rappers and intellectuals, the wait for his fifth studio album has been long and grueling.
On February 13, 2022, Kendrick Lamar will perform alongside Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg in the Super Bowl halftime show performance. The event will take place at SoFi Stadium in Lamar’s hometown of San Francisco.

More significantly, we believe it will be the ideal time for Kendrick Lamar to announce his 2022 headlining tour following one of the finest halftime performances of the decade. New Kendrick Lamar music is on the way, as we all know. We know he’s got a big show planned for February. We have to believe that immediately after this huge, onstage moment, Kendrick Lamar will provide us the tour we’ve been waiting for.
Kendrick Lamar delivered a headline act at the Day N’ Vegas Festival in November. Kendrick Lamar made an exciting promise to his fans after his 27-song set that included songs from all four of his major albums. “Vegas, till next time—” Kendrick bowed to the fans after his encore alongside cousin and hometown idol Baby Keem.

Kendrick has been as evasively mysterious as one could anticipate. He just declared that his upcoming album will be his final with TDE, the legendary company. Kendrick Lamar initially broke his quiet in September to provide an update on his next album (although a pretty cryptic one). His statement, which included a message to admirers in a folder titled “nu thoughts,” as well as an attached file and website, answered some issues while raising others.
“I spend most of my days with fleeting thoughts. Writing. Listening. And collecting old Beach cruisers. The morning rides keep me on a hill of silence. I go months without a phone,” Lamar wrote. “Love, loss, and grief have disturbed my comfort zone, but the glimmers of God speak through my music and family. While the world around me evolves, I reflect on what matters the most. The life in which my words will land next.”
A photo of Kendrick seated at a payphone on the set of a music video shoot in LA recently leaked on the internet. It’s unknown if he was filming the video for a new album or for PgLang, but fans believe it was for the latter.

Also, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Adele said that she got the opportunity to hear a few unreleased Kendrick Lamar songs. Much like the DAMN trailer. LeBron James was given the award in 2017. Adele’s listening to the record and discussing it with the press isn’t just an indication of fresh Kendrick Lamar songs on the road.
All indications point to Kendrick Lamar releasing a new album in 2022.
In the meanwhile, Kendrick filed over 30 new songs with ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) in September, copyrighting previously unreleased compositions including “Blow Ya Mind,” “Hood Love,” and “Driving Down the Darkness.”
Other signs include the Compton native altering his Spotify profile image and hiring Nas’s manager to supervise the next chapter of his career. (Through their pgLang company, Kendrick remains in regular contact with his prior long-term manager, Dave Free.)
Well, we know that Lamar’s process of music takes a long as he always tries to bring something new for his fans. We can only hope that K Dot end this draught season of his with his new album.
