Scott’s Utopia vinyl sales also grew this week, as it moved 93,000 copies in the third week. This is the seventh-largest vinyl sales week for any project since Luminate began tracking sales in 1991, and the biggest week for an R&B/hip-hop or hip-hop album.
Originally, Utopia debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 moving over 496,000 equivalent units in the first week, with 330.68 million on-demand streams and 252,000 pure sales. It was the biggest first-week number for a rap album in 2023.
The project earned the biggest opening day Spotify streams among hip-hop albums this year. The project received 128.5 million Spotify streams on the first day. The second on the list is Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape with 53.4 million opening day streams. It was also the third overall biggest-ever opening day stream for a rap album on Spotify. The first two spots were held by Drake with his albums “Certified Lover Boy” and “Scorpion”.
The 19-track album was laced with star-studded guest appearances from Drake, Future, Playboi Carti, Young Thug, Swae Lee, SZA, Beyonce, Kid Cudi, The Weeknd, 21 Savage and more.
