SZA honoured with the “Woman of the year” crown.
SZA has been on top of her game with the release of her comeback album “SOS”, as she is now honoured with a massive accolade by Billboard.
On Friday, the platform has announced that the TDE star is their 2023 Woman of the year. “Since she burst onto the scene in 2017, SZA has defied genres and continually released raw, powerful songs which have landed her music on the Billboard charts,” said Billboard‘s editorial director Hannah Karp. “The release of her latest album, SOS, has solidified her as a distinct force in contemporary R&B, and catapulted her into superstardom. We can’t wait to honor her as Woman of the Year.”
Over the last five years, SZA has achieved great success in the music industry. She won a Grammy for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” for her collaboration with Doja Cat on the song “Kiss Me More”. Additionally, in 2019, she was honored with the “Rulebreaker Award” at the Billboard Women in Music Awards.

The honour comes after SZA’s recent success on the Billboard charts with her new album “SOS”, which is already eligible for double platinum status. She recently celebrated the achievement as her team surprised her with platinum and gold plaques.
The new SZA album debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 with 315,000 album-equivalent units in the first week. The project stayed at number 1 for seven consecutive weeks and aims at the eighth week 95K units.

Just recently, SZA dominated the 2023 BET Awards as she was honoured in three categories. The TDE SZA star was given the album of the year honour, which was a tie with Beyonce’s Renaissance. SZA also won the best female R&B/pop artist, for which she beat the likes of Beyonce, Ari Lennox and Lizzo.
The TDE star was also nominated in second most, six categories for this year’s MTV Videos Music Awards which will take place on September 12 at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center.
