Salma Hayek talks about meeting Eminem at the Oscars.
Last year, Eminem made a surprise appearance at the Academy Awards to perform “Lose Yourself”, the same song that he won him an Oscar 17 years ago. The performance was one of the highlights of the event, and that day Eminem also reunited with Elton John. After the show, Salma Hayek shared pictures with Eminem and revealed that she spilled water all over him.
Now during her recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Salma Hayek recalls exactly what happened that night. “I have a song that I put in my head that helps me get through stage fright, which is Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself,'” says Salma. “I mean, You hear that you feel like you can do anything. So I was hearing in my head I was going to present an award at the Oscars, which is really nerve-wracking, especially if you have stage fright. And This one day I was extra nervous cause I hadn’t slept, I was jet-lagged, I was feeling shaky. And this one time I was drinking water cause my mouth immediately goes dry. So I’m walking and in my head I was thinking, singing ‘Lose Yourself’. I’m drinking the water and then I go ‘wait a minute… Have I lost it?’ I go to the person ‘Is Lose Yourself playing right now?’ Because I heard it like in a stereo. He [Eminem] was not announced that he was gonna be at the Oscars. As I was ready to come out he was on stage playing Lose Yourself.”

Salma Hayek continues, “This was a surprise. So, I’m so nervous cause it’s me and him all of a sudden. It was really scary. I was embarrassed. And at this moment I was like more nervous and he comes out exactly on the side that I’m in. I was like ‘I love you… I love you’ and I spit the water out. And then I see that he is in shock with water all over him. Then I was like ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry’ They were like ‘Go, go’ and I was like ‘somebody take a picture’, They took a picture and then I left.”
After the Oscars event, Eminem gave an interview to Variety and revealed that he enjoyed the show. “Absolutely. I got to hug Salma Hayek,” said Eminem.
