Mekhi Phifer doesn’t think if “8 Mile 2” is a good idea.
The fans have been wanting a sequel of Eminem’s hit 2002 film “8 Mile”, and the movie’s co-star Mekhi Phifer stated it will not happen. Mekhi Phifer, who played B-Rabbit’s (Eminem) best friend and rap battle host in the movie, was asked about a sequel in a recent conversation with TMZ.
“Sometimes it’s best to just leave it at one,” he said. “Sometimes it’s just best to leave it alone. Once you make a classic, no reason to fool around with it.” “Nope. Probably not. Never,” he said in response to if there ever a conversation about part 2. “I think, you know, leave the classics alone and it’ll be all good. Let’s just live with the 8 Mile.”
A suggestion was made for the sequel to the movie to follow the story of Eminem’s character B-Rabbit as he becomes successful in the rap industry. Although Phifer found the concept intriguing, he indicated that he would not be starring in the sequel and believes it is unlikely that Eminem would be interested in returning for the follow-up. “The story that we told is the story,” he said. “You know, I mean, it could be interesting, but I wouldn’t be in it, and I’m sure Eminem wouldn’t be in it either.”
The Eminem starrer film was a critical and box office success. It opened at No. 1 in the US with $51.3 million grossed in its opening weekend and an eventual total of $242.9 million worldwide.
50 Cent Thinks Eminem Had A Terrible Experience on “8 Mile” Movie
The film recently turned 20, and Eminem released the deluxe edition of the movie’s soundtrack. The original version of the soundtrack had 16 tracks, with music from Eminem, 50 Cent, Obie Trice, D12, Jay-Z, Xzibit, Nas, Rakim, Gang Starr and more. Now the new version comes with 32 tracks, which feature instrumentals of all the original songs on the soundtrack and some demos.
