Corey Taylor responds after Machine Gun Kelly takes shots at Slipknot.
Machine Gun Kelly recently got into an altercation with MMA star Conor McGregor at the 2021 MTV VMAs, and now he disses the heavy metal band Slipknot. The Cleveland artist was one of the performers at Riot Fest at Douglass Part in Chicago, and during his set, he takes shot at Slipknot for wearing masks. “Turn the lights up,” he said. “Let me see who chose to be here instead of with all the old, weird dudes with masks.”
On Sunday night, festival-goers had the option of seeing either MGK or the Corey Taylor-fronted metal band due to conflicting schedules. The two bands’ scheduled performance timings coincided with those of others, which is to be expected at any event. Slipknot kicked things off first at 8:30 p.m. local time with a 75-minute concert, while MGK took the stage an hour later.
In between songs, as shown in a now-viral video, MGK indulged in ageism by informing his audience what he was “very delighted” to be doing. MGK added, “Hey, you all know what I’m really happy that I’m not doing? Being 50-years-old, wearing a f***in weird mask on a f***in stage.” The remarks are a possible response to Corey Taylor, who threw shades at Machine Gun in his appearance on “Cutter’s Rockcast” podcast earlier this year. “I hate all new rock for the most part,” said Taylor. “Well, the ‘artists’ who failed in one genre and decided to go rock, I think he knows who he is. But that’s another story.”
After the show, MGK also took to Twitter where he revealed that Corey Taylor did a verse for the “Tickets To My Downfall” album but it was dropped from the final cut as it was “f**king terrible.” “corey did a verse for a song on tickets to my downfall album, it was f**king terrible, so i didn’t use it. he got mad about it, and talked sh*t to a magazine about the same album he was almost on. yalls stories are all off. just admit he’s bitter,” wrote Kelly.
It’s possible that while the statements made by the “Tickets to My Downfall” artist were taken as completely out of the left field, Taylor’s prior comments, which also didn’t include naming individuals, might give some insight into this situation. While some took Taylor’s statements from Tickets to My Downfall as a completely out-of-the-blue event, earlier comments from Taylor—which did not also contain the habit of identifying names—could give some insight here.
very odd that when an artist talks shit,
and i respond, i’m the bad guy.— blonde don (@machinegunkelly) September 20, 2021

After the tweets from MGK, Corey Taylor also retaliates as he shared screenshots of his conversation with Travis Barker. The mail shows that MGK praised the contribution from Taylor and he was “stoked” to have him on the album. “I don’t like people airing private s*** like a child. So this is all I’ll say: I didn’t do the track because I don’t like when people try to ‘write’ for me. I said no to them. So without further ado…. #receipts. This is all I’m going to say about it,” wrote Corey.

Machine Gun Kelly also responded to the tweet with a reply where he called his verse bad but also offers to collab on a Britney Spears song cover.
basically, your verse was really bad.
respectfully, i was just telling you to rewrite it because it was really bad.
respectfully. 😕
but let’s do a britney spears song cover together 🤘🏼— blonde don (@machinegunkelly) September 21, 2021
