Lupe Fiasco reacts to the new collaboration of Nas and Eminem.
Nas made his return with the new album “King’s Disease II“, a sequel to his last year’s Hit-Boy assisted Grammy-winning project. Among other songs, the fans finally get to hear Nas rapping with Eminem on the same joint “EPMD 2“, along with the Hip-Hop duo EPMD.
Nas enlists Eminem and EPMD for “EPMD 2,” a single that serves as a follow-up to Nas’ February 2021 track, which also features Hit-Boy, who co-produced this song and King’s Disease II. Obviously, the song is a homage to EPMD. All of the singers’ eating habits at posh restaurants are detailed in the song. They also discuss the religious aspects of current events and pay respect to people who have lately died away.
Nas released King’s Disease II, his fourteenth studio album, and his second with producer Hit-Boy after last year’s King’s Disease. Eminem, EPMD, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, YG, Lauryn Hill, Charlie Wilson, and Blxst all appear on the new album, which includes 15 excellent tracks with extra features from Eminem, EPMD, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, YG, Lauryn Hill, Charlie Wilson, and Blxst — On the highlight track “Composure,” Hit-Boy also makes sure to provide some top-notch bars.
This is the first time Nas and Eminem have collaborated together, however, Slim Shady previously produced and co-wrote Nas’ 2002 song ‘The Cross.’
Nas’s highest-charting album in nine years, King’s Disease II, opened at number three on the US Billboard 200, making his 15th top ten entry on the chart. The album also debuted at the top of the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, selling 56,000 total album-equivalent units in its first week. The first-week sales of King’s Disease II surpassed those of its predecessor, which sold over 47,000 copies and opened at number five on the Billboard 200. The album was up for Best Rap Album at the 64th Grammy Awards, but Tyler, the Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost won the award.
During an interview with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden, the presenter directly questioned Lupe if the Nas collab rumours were genuine. “We talked about the Amy Winehouse record, right?” Lupe said, around the 10:50 mark. “It was like, go in the studio, Nas has a bunch of blunts there—he’s obviously ready. … It’s like, ‘Oh, what are we doing? What am I stepping into? What are we finna do right now?’ The conversation that we had was incredible—it was unbelievable. And then it went into, ‘Ok, so what are we doing? What do you want to do?’ And I told him about the Amy Winehouse piece. I was like, ‘This is what I’m engaged in right now, conceptually—maybe it tickles your fancy. … It just tapered from like, ‘Ok, let’s see, whatever.’ Then Nas goes on to be Nas, Lupe goes on to be Lupe. So that’s kinda where it ends.”
Lupe continued, “I have Nas’ phone number, so I’m feeling myself maybe a month ago and I was like listening to some beats, going through the concepts. … I was just like, ‘You know what, let’s do an EP. Life is short, COVID-19. Let’s do an EP.’ I’ve not heard back yet,” he said laughing.
Like always, Eminem blew everyone’s minds with his crazy verse, where he shouts out various fellow hip hop greats including Drake, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne. Eminem also shouted out his good friend 50 Cent, to which Fifty has already reacted through his social media. Now Lupe Fiasco also reacts to the track as he went live on his IG. Mickey Factz also tweeted about the Eminem verse and said that he killed the last sequence.
Eminem killed the last sequence of that NaS feature. Is it transcribed yet?
