Lil Durk announces the release date for the new album “7220”.
Lil Durk had been teasing his forthcoming new album “7220” for some time now, and the rapper has finally announced the official release date for the project. Earlier this month, Durk took to his social media to reveal that he has completed his album, which is titled after his Grandmother’s address in Chicago. “7220 my granny address the house it all started,” he wrote.
The album which was first teased back in November will be released on 22nd February 2022. As you noticed, it is the same day Kanye West’s is dropping his highly anticipated new album “Donda 2“. “My album drop same day as YE 2/22/22,” wrote the 29-year-old.

The album will be a follow up to his last year’s joint album “The Voice of the Heroes” with Lil Baby, and his 2020’s solo effort “The Voice“. Last month, Lil Durk also announced “The 7220 Tour” in support of his upcoming project, which will kick off on 8th April in Phoenix, and conclude in his hometown Chicago on 2nd May.

Durk has continued to rule the charts, branching out beyond hip-hop. The rapper ended his 2021 with “Broadway Girls,” a duet with country musician Morgan Wallen. It wouldn’t be surprising if the two recorded a second song together on 7220.
With Kanye’s personal life in disarray, particularly his divorce battle with Kim Kardashian, it’s no surprise that DONDA 2 will be postponed. Durk has yet to release an official track, although he did release a free tune called ‘Ikea Rugs’ with NBA trainer Chris Brickley.
Lil Durk recently linked up with Morgan Wallen for his single “Broadway Girls“, and assisted 50 Cent on “Power Book IV: Force” theme song “Power Powder Respect” with Jeremih.
However, we’re still not sure if Kanye West will really drop his new album on the given day, as most of his recent projects were delayed for weeks.
7220 opened at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States, selling 120,500 album-equivalent units in its first week (including 2,500 copies of pure album sales). Following his joint effort with fellow American rapper Lil Baby, The Voice of the Heroes (2021), this was Durk’s second US number-one debut on the list, and his first solo album. The album’s songs have been streamed a total of 164.81 million times on demand.
