2021 BET Awards honors the late DMX.
With the “Year of the Black Woman”, the 2021 BET Awards was telecasted earlier tonight which took place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. Megan Thee Stallion dominated the show as she was awarded in four categories. The event also had some amazing performances from artists like DaBaby, Migos, Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X, Roddy Ricch, and more. But the main talking point from the show was the legendary DMX, who was celebrated at the 2021 BET Awards with a star-studded performance.
The legendary DMX passed away at 50 on April 9, 2021, after he lost functionality in multiple essential organs, reportedly his liver, kidneys, and lungs. Shortly after his death, a posthumous album called “Exodus” was released, which he has been working on before his death. The Swizz Beatz executive-produced album had guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Pop Smoke, Griselda, and more.
Swizz Beatz took the stage at the 21st annual BET Awards where he was joined by Busta Rhymes, Method Man, The LOX, and Griselda to perform a medley of DMX’s greatest hits. Method Man began the performance with 1998 single “Get at Me Dog“, followed by the Griselda crew who performed their latest DMX collaboration “Hood Blues“.
