Eminem Reveals He's Writing & Recording New Music in Quarantine

Eminem reveals he’s writing and recording in self-isolation on Young Money Radio.

Drake was a guest on Apple Music’s show a week ago, where he talked about releasing music during the current coronavirus pandemic, adding that musicians need to “find out what people need.” He also discussed his new project, “Dark Lane Demo Tapes,” as well as fatherhood. Last night, Eminem made an appearance on Young Money Radio for a new interview with Lil Wayne. In the episode, Lil Wayne asked Em if he’s working on some new material and what he and Dre are up to nowadays.

Eminem called in to talk about the upcoming Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan documentary The Last Dance, rappers they admire like Killer Mike, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar, their unique writing processes, and DJs on Saturdays (May 9) show.

Eminem: I’m writing. I’m writing and recording a little bit. Not as much as I normally do but it’s all good. I’m just waiting for us to be able to get past this thing whenever that’s gonna be.

Lil Wayne: What’s up with you and Dre? How is y’all doing? Still, working on new music and sh*t?

Eminem: Me and Dre? Well, we can’t right now but we do send shit back and forth to each other sometimes. Like I said, I’m not really on anything, as far as another album yet or anything like that, I just, you know, write and record all the time, and if I start getting on a roll I kind of (start putting it together).

As he prepared to play “If I Die Tonight” from 2Pac’s 1995 album “Me Against The World” on his recent three-hour Shade45 radio program special, titled Music To Be Quarantined By, the rapper expressed his admiration for the late artist.

He said: “OK, this next song is from an artist who I feel like might be the greatest songwriter of all-time. Debate what you want about MC skills and all that, because he had that too. This is one of them songs by 2Pac that, to me, he was showing you, ‘I can write heartfelt shit and I can write lyrical, crazy sh*t too.’”
