Dr. Dre Inducts Eminem Into Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Eminem gets inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2022.

The 2022 ceremony of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is taking place right now at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, and the legendary Eminem becomes the latest hip-hop artist to be honoured at the event. The rapper was inducted by his longtime mentor, friend and producer Dr. Dre at the event. “He said, ‘I’d like you to tell everybody I have a huge pen*s,’” jokes Dre.

The Aftermath mogul then praised the rapper for becoming one the best-selling hip-hop artist of all time from an “unassuming white guy from Detroit”. “Eminem wasn’t just an underdog who broke through the glass ceiling of hip-hop — he shattered that sh*t,” he said.

“Little did I know, he was going to be one of the best-selling artists of all time. Facts. From the moment he introduced himself to the world with The Slim Shady LP, he skyrocketed to the top of the charts and stayed there for 100 weeks, earning himself a Grammy for Best Rap album and Best Rap Solo performance. And can you believe, after promoting violence to little children, killing his daughter’s mother, this guy still had more shit to get off his chest? And then the sophomore album comes out. The Marshall Mathers LP drops.”

He continued, “On that album alone his alter-ego Slim Shady tied me up in the basement, had s*x with his mother, killed his daughter’s mother again while proceeding to offend about every special interest group we had. It clearly struck a chord and became one of the fastest selling albums in United States history. Eminem would go on to overdose, relapse, recover, and not only on his albums, in real life. Let me tell you something. This guy goes through a lot of sh*t just to get a concept for a song. But here’s Eminem’s genius. With his incredible wit and wild imagination, he was able to hold a mirror up to white America while also expressing the pain of poverty and dysfunctional families devoid of hope. Eminem brought hip hop to middle America and offered kids who looked like him a way to connect to it.”

As announced, the rapper also performed at the event, kicking off with his classic “My Name Is”, followed by fast rapping “Rap God.” Eminem was then joined by Steven Tyler of Aerosmith for “Sing For The Moment, and then “Stan” where he was assisted by Ed Sheeran. Eminem also performed his motivational track “Not Afraid”, along with his verse of Drake’s “Forever”.

“I’m not supposed to be here tonight,” said Eminem following his set. “One, I’m a rapper; two, I almost died from an overdose; and three.” “This sh*t’s crazy,” Eminem said. “So I wrote some sh*t down tonight that I’m never going to f**king remember, so I had to read it off the paper and sh*t, but it’s from the heart. I realize what an honor it is right now for me to be up here tonight, and what a privilege it is to do the music that I love, and the music that basically saved my life.”

“I’m a high school dropout man with a hip-hop education, and these are my teachers. And it’s their night just as much as it is mine,” said Eminem in his speech, with glasses on. “I almost died of an overdose in 2007, “which f**kin s**ked because” he then told his daughter Hailie, who’s in the crowd to cover her ears – “drugs are f— delicious and I thought we had a good thing going.” The rapper shouted out some of his influences like Big Daddy Kane, Big Pun, Biggie, LL Cool J, Ice Cube and more. He then named some rap legends that didn’t get inducted into the Rock Hall. “Those are just a few of the names that I hope will be considered in the future for induction,” he says, “because without them my a*s wouldn’t be here.”
