Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy” earned more streams in 3 days than Kanye West’s “DONDA” did in 8 days.
Kanye West and Drake are going back and forth recently with their reignited feud, and they are also competing with their new album “DONDA” and “Certified Lover Boy.” While fans and critics give their opinions about which album is better, Drake is already surpassing Kanye West on the charts as well as on streaming platforms.
According to Rolling Stone, Drake earned more on-demand streams for “CLB” in three days, than Kanye West’s “DONDA” did in eight days. In the first three days, Drake had around 430 million on-demand audio streams in the US for his new album, whereas Kanye’s “DONDA” had under 423 million in its first eight days.
Kanye West’s new album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, earning him his 10th consecutive chart-topping project, which is a record tied with Eminem. The album moved around 309k equivalent units in the first week, which is the highest for a project in 2021. Drizzy is expected to surpass Kanye here as well, as CLB is projected to earn more than 500k in the first week on Billboard 200.
The Billboard 200 chart lists the top-selling albums in the United States each week based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums are all counted as units (SEA). Each unit represents one album sale, ten individual album tracks sold, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by album songs. On September 14, the new Sept. 18, 2021-dated Billboard chart (where Certified Lover Boy debuts at No. 1) will be uploaded in its entirety on Billboard’s website.
Drake also broke his own Apple Music and Spotify records of most album streams On the first day.
