Cardi B Becomes First Female Rapper With 2 RIAA Diamond Singles

Cardi B earns another RIAA Diamond Certification.

Maroon 5 and Cardi B’s collaboration “Girls Like You” has reached the RIAA Diamond Status. The song was released in 2018 and featured in Maroon 5’s sixth studio album “Red Pill Blues”. With this achievement, Cardi B also becomes the first female rapper with 2 RIAA Diamond Singles. She previously earned the Diamond Certification for her hit “Bodak Yellow”, off her debut studio album “Invasion of Privacy”.

Maroon 5 and Cardi B’s “Girls Like You” has won multiple awards, including at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards for Top Hot 100 Song, and also received a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 61st Grammy Awards. Earlier this month, the song was ranked at 30 on Billboard’s Greatest Hot 100 Hits of All Time. The official video for the song had some star-studded cameos from Jennifer Lopez, Ellen, Gal Gadot, Mary J. Blige and many more.

Reflecting, she continued, “I remember like it was yesterday when this song went #1 and now it’s Diamond. I honestly just can’t believe this is happening! I’m so proud to have two songs off my debut album go Diamond. I hope I can achieve the same or even better on my next one. Thank you everyone that has supported and loved this record.”

Cardi B now joins Katy Perry (3) and Lady Gaga (2) as female artists with multiple RIAA Diamond Songs. Recently, Nicki Minaj earned her first RIAA Diamond Certification with her 2010’s single “Super Bass“.

“Wow I got two Diamond records! Thank you sooo much maroon 5 for including me on this song and this is the song I cater to my daughter every time I perform it. I’m forever grateful,” wrote Cardi B.

Cardi B, who was just awarded Billboard’s “Woman Of The Year 2020,” made history with her smash hit “WAP (Feat. Megan Thee Stallion)” last summer. Cardi B’s fourth #1 hit in the US, “WAP,” debuted at #1 on the Billboard “Hot 100” in August, extending her record as the female rapper with the most #1 singles in the “Hot 100.”
