BossLogic Revive Hopes For Def Jam Video Game with Eminem & More

BossLogic teases hopes for Def Jam World War Video Game featuring Eminem.

Def Jam used to create an iconic fighting game with legendary rappers and outstanding gameplay mechanics. Is it possible for fans to have something similar happen again, but this time with Eminem? Well, Read it. Back in 2014, EA Games released “Def Jam: Fight For NY“, hip-hop influenced 3D action video game, as the sequel to “Def Jam Vendetta” and “Def Jam: Icon“. The game featured several rappers, including Lil Kim, Snoop Dogg, Method Man, Redman, Fat Joe, Mobb Deep, Ice-T, Xzibit, N.O.R.E, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, and more. Now a few years ago, Def Jam teased a sequel to the popular hip-hop game, and just like the other fans, the Australian artist BossLogic also wanted it to make a comeback and made a poster for it naming “Def Jam World War” featuring Eminem.

Fans were teased relentlessly by Def Jam, who hinted about a remix of “Fight for NY” or a new installment in the saga. So, in August 2018, an Australian artist named BossLogic shared a photograph that appeared to be the cover art for a new Def Jam game. It included the title “Def Jam: World War,” a list of rappers, both newbies and those who were around in 2004 but didn’t make it into the game, and a list of rappers who participated in the classic edition as well as newcomers and those who were around in 2004 but didn’t make it into the game. With Eminem on the cover, of course.

So @defjam have been teasing ‘Def jam Fight for…’ for a bit now and I really hope this game makes a come back! Fight for NY is still one of my favourite games #DefJamWorldWar,” he wrote with the picture which featured the likes of Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Drake, Logic, Lil Wayne, Ty Dolla Sign, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Redman, Ice Cube, Future, ASAP Rocky, Rick Ross, DMX, Rihanna, Pusha T and more.

Def Jam Vendetta was released in 2003, followed by Def Jam: Fight for NY in 2004. Since the release of Def Jam Icon in 2007, there hasn’t been a new game. Ice-T expressed his aspirations for a comeback last summer, but fans have remained patient. Hopefully, the surge in popularity will result in a new game in the series!

The Def Jam fighting games are considered to be classics in the genre, blending over-the-top pro-wrestling skills with the roughness of hip-hop musicians, like Snoop Dogg, DMX, Eminem, and others. Ice-T has recently made a public plea for a new Def Jam game to be produced on next-generation systems. His desire for a new game in the franchise has been backed up by a legion of online fans.

Eminem is a member of Def Jam Duo’s 50 Shades of Slim alongside 50 Cent. After the terrorist commander discusses the resurrection of “Proof” Holton during the Def Jam Takeover nicknamed the East Coast Apocalypse, Eminem is compelled to don the chainsaw and trench coat of Slim Shady once more in order to confront him. Together with 50 Cent, they are forced to battle the streets in order to reach him. After apprehending the terrorist’s commander, they learn that they’ve been making robotic androids of dead rappers, with the intention of turning Proof into one next. After defeating 2pac and Biggie’s androids, the two manage to flee the place before it is blown up.

Def Jam said on Twitter, “The streets are saying we need a new Def Jam game.” This is followed by a second tweet that states, “Once our Twitter reaches 1 million followers, we have a special announcement for y’all!” Def Jam’s Twitter account now has over a million followers.

Since then, there were no more updates or teasers were shared by Def Jam, but once again, BossLogic returned with two new poster ideas for the game and also tagged the gaming creator Ed Boon and reignite hopes for the game to finally make a come back with a sequel.

It’s time for the fans to be hopeful once more. Especially in light of Eminem’s recent declaration about his X-Men incarnation. Why not include Em’s video game avatar in the mix of NFTs, animated videos, and comic books? Marshall did it for 50 Cent’s “Bulletproof” in 2005, and he can do it again.

Ed Boon, the developer of Mortal Kombat, took to Twitter to ask fans which fighting game franchise they’d want to see resurrected. Fans have expressed a strong desire to see the Def Jam series return, and as a result, the franchise has been trending on social media!
