Big Sean thanks Eminem for his support on the project “Detroit 2”.
Fresh off from the release of his latest project “Detroit 2” and including a Detroit freestyle-themed track which is titled “Friday Night Cypher“. The Music features Detroit’s Legends Eminem, Royce Da 5’9 & more.
While everyone features promoting Big Sean’s project, Eminem also promotes the album, and Big Sean thanks Eminem for his feature in the project.
Travis Scott, Eminem, Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Ty Dolla $ign, and the late Nipsey Hussle, who is featured on “Deep Reverence,” are among the many heavy-hitter features on the 21-track CD. Paak, Jhené Aiko, Wale, and Hit-Boy are among the album’s guests, as are some lesser-known artists including Tee Grizzley, Kash Doll, and Boldy James.
Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, and Dave Chappelle also appear on three distinct versions of a tune called “Story,” which reminds us of the identical track format Sean used on Detroit with Common, Snoop Dogg, and Jeezy at the time. The sheer number of appearances on this album is insane, but the inclusion of both veterans and rookies elevates it to the level of, what is the word we’re looking for, well, Big.
The only comic that appeared on Sean’s 21-track album was Dave Chappelle, who recorded a 2:35-minute skit titled “Story by Dave Chappelle.” He talks about his experiences in Sean’s hometown and his appreciation for the rapper’s father, James Anderson, in this video. During the intermission, Chappelle reveals that Anderson once gave him a pep talk after he blew a standup show in Detroit.
“The reason I called it Detroit 2 is because as I was returning to that passion and that hunger, it started to really remind me of when I made my Detroit mixtape,” Big Sean said in an interview “I got a little more wisdom and a little bit more experience. … I wanted it to feel like I was bringing a festival to Detroit with all the features and the stories because I feel like it’s a city that deserves it. … I’m a son of the city, so I had to represent.”
Eminem promote the album by saying, “So happy to be a part of the sequel- @bigsean #Detroit2 #fridaynightcypher”
Big Sean replied on the post, “Let’s goooooooooo!!!! Bro apart of it? It’s a highlight! God Bless you and thank you, big bro! Rap GoD thank you for the blessing us!! This is for Detroit!!”
He also said, “I’m so thankful for this man! You the GOAT”

Sean’s last album, I Decided, was released in 2017 and serves as a successor to his 2012 mixtape Detroit. Diddy, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Nipsey Hussle, Tee Grizzley Post Malone, Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder, and others appear in Detroit 2. Sean also released the video for the Travis Scott-assisted album cut “Lithuania” on Friday.
Big Sean also did a QnA with Fans where he answered a question in relation to Eminem’s verse on “Friday Night Cypher”.
Sean hit the ground running in the 2010s, releasing a string of increasingly sharp studio albums and guest appearances, sparring with heavyweights like Drake, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, and Ariana Grande and shining on solo singles like “Guap” and “Bounce Back”; deep cuts like “Bigger Than Me” and “One Man Can Change the World” balanced the upbeat mood of the singles with heartfelt emotion. He took his time working on Detroit 2, the follow-up to his highly acclaimed 2012 mixtape and a love letter to his hometown, which will be released on September 4. Sean Don has been working on himself, as I learned during a conversation with him in mid-August, inspiring some of his greatest songs.
Eminem was the last person added so he heard the whole song and knew who was on it #AskBigSean https://t.co/5rE23WyOHV
