Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar’s “Family Ties” takes home Best Rap Performance Grammy.
The cousins Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar wins a trophy for their collaboration “Family Ties” at the 64th annual Grammy Awards. The track marked Kendrick Lamar’s return to music last year in August. The song was also nominated for Best Rap Song, but lost to Kanye West and Jay-Z’s “Jail“. This is Baby Keem’s first-ever Grammy win.

The track triumphs over Cardi B’s “Up”, J. Cole, 21 Savage & Morray’s “My Life”, Drake, Future, Young Thug’s “Way Too Sexy” and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Th*t Sh*t”.
Keem, a first-time Grammy winner, was in attendance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas this evening to thank his supporters which featured the ladies and men who helped grow and mould him into the man he is now, as well as K-Dot and Dave Free, founding members of pgLang, the multi-disciplinary media firm where the previous 2020 XXL Freshman is signed, and many more.

Baby Keem made certain to recognise the ladies in his life, including his mother, as well as those who had helped him along the way, during his victory speech. He said the following about writing the song as he entered the event on the red carpet before winning: “It’s surreal. It’s one of those moments where you live in the moment, but you don’t know you’re in the moment.” He continues that it has been exciting to see how much he has developed as an artist.

The song appeared on Keem’s debut album “The Melodic Blue“. The album additionally featured Travis Scott, Don Toliver and Brent Faiyaz. The project debuted at #5 on Billboard 200 chart with 53,000 total album-equivalent units.
