50 Cent looks back at hanging during the Super Bowl Halftime show performance.
Just recently, 50 Cent surprised fans as he announced a world tour “The Final Lap” as he celebrate the 20 years of his debut album “Get Rich Or Die Tryin”. The rapper made an appearance on USA Today for a new interview, where the POWER mogul was asked about last year’s Super Bowl performance, and he states that hanging during the show was a mistake.
The rapper first shared what we can expect from the upcoming global tour. “It’s gonna be a whole new show,” 50 Cent said. “Sometimes out of habit, you go to certain records. People love other things on it, so I wanna make sure I touch those records before I don’t do those anymore.”
Fif was then asked if he’ll do any upside-down crunches on the tour like Super Bowl, and the rapper states that it was a ‘mistake’. “I think that was a mistake for the Super Bowl,” he expressed. “Everybody else walked in regular, the songs still went over and they got the trophy, too. They all won an Emmy. They got the same thing I got and I had to put myself upside down.”
Last year’s Super Bowl halftime show was one of the greatest moments in hip-hop history, as the show featured performances from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent. The group was honoured with an Emmy Award for outstanding variety special honour last year. “@eminem is the man, He wouldn’t do the show with out me that’s my boy !,” 50 wrote previously.
Originally, Fif was not supposed to perform at the event, but Eminem reportedly gave half of his performance time so his “Patiently Waiting” collab can join the team. Reports stated that Eminem “made the request” for 50 Cent to join the halftime show, and the POWER mogul was “happy to do it.” “They’re friends and he would do anything for him,” an insider said of 50 Cent and Eminem.
In an episode on Drink Champs, NORE revealed his conversation with JAY-Z, who told him that Eminem refused to perform at Super Bowl without 50 Cent. “So I hit the homie, the big homie Jay-Z. And I told him to pull up on me, and he pulled up on me. I asked him, ‘Who is the people that will perform at NFL?’ and he said to me ‘I’m sorry for anybody who don’t understand. The white guy called for 50 Cent.’ So I said, who is the white guy? Jimmy Iovine? And he said ‘no, Eminem called directly for Fifty and he said I can’t do it if I can’t bring 50 up. That’s spiritful.”
