Kid Cudi talks about Eminem collaboration on “Man on the Moon 3”.
Kid Cudi who’s all set to drop his new album ‘Man on the Moon 3‘ this Friday, sat down with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 where he talks about how his collaboration “The Adventure of the Moon Man and Slim Shady” with Eminem came together.
“Yo, I wanna be respected as an MC,” says Kid Cudi. “Yo, who do I f**ing get? Who do I f**ing spar with? Who do I go bar-for-bar with? Eminem. I tweeted at him. It was not even in the DMs. Just my timeline. It was public. I was like, ‘Yo Rap God, help!’ And we are really close with Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg and he was able to connect us and we were able to get it done.”
Kid Cudi continues, “I’m like waiting, I’m waiting. And I’m like, “Oh s**t. They are asking me questions. They do not say he is going to do it just yet. They are just asking me questions. And I am like, so this means he is going to do it. Right? Because they are asking me questions. And literally, it was like every day I was like, ‘Is today going to be the day? Is today going to be the day?’ And, I got it, and I was like, ‘Holy s**t.’ It was something for me to get validation from Eminem by doing that record. Him doing that record let me know like he was telling me like, ‘Yo, I f**k with you as an artist fully, even your bars are dope.’”
Cudi also discussed the spiritual process of working with Kanye West on 2018’s Kids See Ghosts in the interview.“I think we were both feeling like we were entering new chapters in our lives,” he said. “We just shed old skin and we’re starting new.”
He also talked about how his Eminem duet “The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady” made him feel validated and how Travis Scott helped him gain confidence as a rapper. Pop Smoke, Skepta, Phoebe Bridgers, and Trippie Redd are among the artists included in “Man on the Moon III: The Chosen“, which will be released tonight.
Kid Cudi, who has been absent from the music scene for a long time, is back with new music today. He recently published a new song titled “Leader of the Delinquents.” It’s unclear whether the song will be the lead single from Cudi’s next album Entergalactic, but Cudi isn’t done with us yet.
