Kanye West shouts out Eminem on equaling a record with him.
Last week, Kanye West made a lot of headlines when the “DONDA” rapper appeared on Revolt’s “Drink Champs” for an interview with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN. The interview was two and a half hours long, and now the platform has released the second part of it, which is over one hour long. At one point, N.O.R.E. asked Ye about recently earning his first RIAA Diamond, with his song “Stronger“. He also became the second artist to earn a diamond for a song that was produced by the artist himself.
“I have recently read that you are one of two artists that has went 10 million and produced their own record,” says N.O.R.E. “Yeah, Eminem also,” responds Kanye. “Eminem. That’s lit, right? It’s like ambidextrous. It feels like it’s another example that I could show you all that we could build communities.”
Eminem, who earned diamond certification for his three singles “Lose Yourself”, Not Afraid”, and Rihanna assisted “Love The Way You Lie”. The Detroit rapper performed and produced both the solo tracks out of these three.
Also, West’s feud with Drake is well-known. Despite their regular collaborations, the two have swapped wax trash against each other throughout the years. West mentioned his spat with Drake on “Drink Champs,” as well as how clever the Canadian musician is when at the battle.
“Drake don’t do an outright diss song where it’s like a headshot,” he said. “He’s gonna set it up like war. When people went to get Hitler, they didn’t go straight for [him]. They set up fake tanks. He gotta do stuff like live five blocks down the street from you. DM every single girl in your family.” West was also questioned by N.O.R.E. what he thought would happen if he ever faced Drake in Verzuz combat. “I’m winning every situation,” he said. “I need to have a month-long [battle] with different categories and different styles.”
On the Billboard 200, DONDA’s album debuted at No. 1, competing with Drake’s Certified Lover Boy. The album was the largest release of 2021 at the time of its release. It matched Eminem’s record for the most consecutive No. 1 album launches. Ye rushed to Instagram to express his thoughts after learning that DONDA 2 was no longer eligible. The artist was unfazed by the scenario and instead considered it as a victory. He wrote, “Big win for the kid We can no longer be counted or judged We won we won we won we won We make my own systems We set our own value aaaand yesterdays price is not todays price baaaaabeeeee!!!!!”
