Kanye West compared Fivio Foreign to Jay-Z.
Fivio Foreign has a great working relationship with Kanye West after his guest appearance on “DONDA.” Fivio Foreign had one of the standout verses on the project, with their collaboration “Off The Grid” which also featured Playboi Carti. Fivio Foreign now revealed that Kanye West praised him for the verse with a huge compliment. Fivio Foreign recently sat down with LA Leakers on Power 106 for a new interview where he detailed the whole thing.
Fivio revealed that he had dinner with Kanye West, Lil Yachty, Pusha T, and more, where he asked Ye, “Who do I remind you of?” “I go Ye, who I remind you of? Who I remind you of?” Fivio said. “He like, ‘I don’t know, that’s a good question.’ The question went past so I guess we start eating or whatever. Then something hit him. He go, ‘I got it! Hov!’ I’m like, ‘Word? Hov?’ He say, ‘Hov!‘”
Foreign continues, “And then Kanye started going crazy about it and started explaining it more, and start comparing sh*t. He’s like, ‘Yo, Hov was friends with the ni**a with the deep voice and he died.’ So I’m like, ‘What you talking about?’ So he like, ‘Biggie, Pop, Brooklyn.’”
Fivio Foreign is currently working on his upcoming album “The Bible” which will be executive produced by the GOOD Music boss. The Brooklyn native said that it will be an album similar to Jay-Z’s classic “The Blueprint.” Fivio Foreign recently dropped a new single & video called “Story Time.”
In the interview on Power 106’s LA Leakers this week, Fivio resumed his Kanye-related stories, revealing that during the Donda sessions, ‘Ye demanded everyone in the studio wear his apparel. “Everybody gotta be wearing Fivio merch,” Fivio told DJ Sour Milk and Justin Credible. “I learned that from ‘Ye. When we was at the ‘Ye shit… We had the vest on. He made us all wear Donda merch. Know we on Donda time.” Yeezys, certain pants. No, this is what he do. It’s like a uniform. He’ll give us like Yeezys, some time of pants – some type of black cargo – and then Donda shirts. That’s what he do. Uniform. So I guess it take away the, like, egos.”
Although Hov and Kanye’s relationship appears to be on better terms following the Roc Nation mogul’s verse on “Jail,” it remains to be seen whether the two will truly get together for the rumored followup to their 2011 collaborative album Watch The Throne.
Fivio recently discussed Ye’s desire for Jay-Z to appear on the tune in an interview with Ebro Darden for Apple Music, but instead Ye decided to merely record a verse.
“When I went to LA, I played [‘City of Gods’] for Ye,” he explained. “He was like, ‘This sh– is fire. We got to get Hov on this sh–.’ I’m like, ‘What? We got to get Hov?’ He said, ‘Watch this. Tomorrow.’ But then tomorrow, next day came, he doing a thousand things.”
Fans quickly wanted Fivio and Kanye to collaborate more after hearing his “Off The Grid” verse. After a fan commented that the two needed more songs, Fivio stated that Kanye would be in charge of his debut album.
Fivio should be ecstatic to be compared to such a legend as Jay Z. Both are performing for Brooklyn! In addition, it appears like Kayne West and Jay Z’s friendship has developed over time. Previously, everyone assumed the two didn’t get along, but with the release of their new song “Jail,” fans are speculating that a “Watch The Throne 2” album is on the way.
