Joey Badass drops the new song “Head High”.
Joey Badass made his return to the music scene earlier this year with his come back single “REV3NGE”, and now the rapper is back with a follow-up. The Brooklyn rapper has now released his brand new single “Head High”, with production from Statik Selektah. It is the latest offering off his long-awaited new album, which will be his first in 5 years, after 2017’s “All-Amerikkkan Badass.”
On his comeback song “THE REV3NGE” (Jan. 14), the Brooklyn-based rapper not only spits with heavenly aim, but also made his triumphant return feel entirely dramatic. Joey seems to over-deliver in quality, singing about proving his detractors wrong with a larger chip on his shoulder, wanting to recover the throne he properly belongs to, following the excitement of the track’s movie-style approach.
“This is one of the best, purest, realest tracks I’ve ever made and I’m fulfilled to finally share it with the world,” he said in a statement. “This one is for Nip, X, Pop and every young black man who’s life was taken away way too soon. This is for everyone who has to navigate life daily with their head on a swivel.”
Just the other day, Joey Badass linked up with Nas and revealed that the rapper praised his upcoming album, as well as the new single. “Played Nas some of the album and he said he was inspired. He also loved the next song I’m dropping for y’all, he called it “the perfect single”. Meant a lot hearing that from the [Goat emoji]. New raps on the way,” he wrote in a tweet.

“Time waits for no man, life is but a two-step slow jam / Dancin’ with the devil, tryin’ not to lose my balance / Look, God blessed the kid many talents, he was chosen / It’s why you see him livin’ in the moment,” he raps on the new song.
