Young Thug & YSL drops “Slime Language 2” deluxe feat Don Toliver, DaBaby & more.
Young Thug who returned with his new compilation project “Slime Language 2” with YSL last week, continues releasing new material as he now dropped the deluxe version for it. The project which had 23 tracks, now comes with additional 8 records with guest appearances from NAV, Don Toliver, DaBaby, and more.
Since the release of “Slime Language 2” last week, Young Thug has been busy. He appeared in a live-action Call of Duty trailer for Season 3 of Warzone alongside Gunna, Saweetie, Jack Harlow, and others, and was featured on a track from Cordae’s recently released “Just Until….” EP. Thug and his brother Unfoonk released the music video for “Real” from Slime Language 2. Last week also saw the release of the colorful Omar Jones-directed video for Slime Language 2 highlight “Ski,” which has inspired a viral social media dance challenge.
The album’s original version is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling between 125,000 and 140,000 copies in its first week. Slime Language’s first album, which was released in 2018, debuted at No. 8 with 41,000 album-equivalent units.
In an interview for his second studio album, Wunna, which was released on the same day, Gunna disclosed the existence of Slime Language 2. Young Thug declared the release date of “#Slimelanguage2 8-16” on July 29, 2020, before subsequently deleting the tweet. On April 12, 2021, he officially confirmed the album’s release date, as well as the album’s cover image. Young Thug (label boss), Gunna, Yak Gotti, Lil Duke, YTB Trench, Yung Kayo, Thug’s brother Unfoonk, Thug’s fiancée Karlae, T-Shyne, Lil Keed, Strick, FN Da Dealer, and Thug’s sisters HiDoraah and Dolly White are among the YSL Records artists who contributed to the album.
Having said that, Slime Language 2 works as a study of Thug’s influence. Young Thug’s involvement on the album is minimal, yet his vibe is all over those songs. It’s in the way talents like Uzi, Future, and Travis Scott approach melody, in the hooks and ad-libs rappers pin to these glittering rhythms, and, most obviously, in the way the YSL signees move.
