Young Thug drops the “Slime Language 2” project feat. Lil Baby, Drake, Travis Scott & more.
After announcing it earlier this week, Young Thug has released his brand new album called “Slime Language 2“, which is a sequel to his 2018 project. The album contains 23 tracks with guest appearances from Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Lil Uzi Vert, Drake, Big Sean, NAV, Future, Coi Leray, Kid Cudi, and more.
Thugger’s YSL family sits in a horror film-inspired living room on the cover art. Fans can see lightning bolts outside the windows behind the collective, as well as a green dog sitting in front of everyone, giving off The Mask vibes.
“Slime Language 2“, the follow-up to the 2017 original, debuts at No. 1 this week, selling 109,000 equivalent album units. Despite the fact that Young Thug is the only artist credited on the album, it features a lot of help from Thug’s YSL labelmates, especially his similarly chart-topping co-star Gunna, who appears on seven of the album’s tracks.
“Slime Language 2” opens with the chaotic and catchy “Slatty (feat. Yak Gotti & Lil Duke),” one of the collection’s best moments. The intro is classic Young Thug, with him rapping in one of his signature animated styles, swerving from verses to the hook while also highlighting the two features and Gunna. Yak Gotti makes an adequate appearance, but Lil Duke handles the final verse far better than his predecessor. The dynamic duo of Thug and Gunna reaffirm their chemistry on the second track, “Ski.” While “Ski” doesn’t add anything new to the table, especially when compared to “Diamonds” and “Surf” from “So Much Fun (Deluxe)”, it’s still a fun song to listen to.
